5g service launch by PM 10/01 🗼
5G launch :
India is gearing up for the launch of 5G services. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be officially launching the 5G services on October 1, although the general availability is likely to take a few more weeks. The international airport at Delhi Airport Terminal 3 will be the first 5G-ready airport in India. Delhi Airport has also said that 5G services would be available across the country beginning October 1, as has been predicted in recent weeks.Without specifying which telecom operator's 5G network would be available at the Terminal, the airport authorities has stated that anyone with a 5G-enabled phone will be able to access speedier network services across Terminal 3 to begin the process. The Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has issued an official statement stating that travellers travelling from Terminal 3 at Delhi Airport will soon be able to utilise the 5G network. According to the government, the 5G network would provide 20 times the data speed of the airport's current Wi-Fi system.
According to DIAL, passengers having 5G connection in their smartphones will benefit from improved signal strength and seamless connectivity at the domestic departure pier and international arrival baggage area at Terminal 3, as well as multi-level car parking (MLCP). The T3 will gradually introduce 5G network connection.
Following the 5G spectrum auctions and subsequent allocations to telcos, the Indian government has been working tirelessly to secure the country's rapid implementation of 5G services.
Last month, IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the government expects 5G services to be available in the country by October 12, and that the Centre will ensure that the costs are accessible for customers.
What's app update :
WhatsApp is in news once again, but this time not for introducing a new feature. The Meta-owned instant messaging platform has published details of a "critical" vulnerability, which has been patched in a newer version of the app. So, WhatsApp users still on an older version of the app must immediately update the application.
Details of the vulnerability were first disclosed in a September update of WhatsApp's page on security advisories. It is said that the "critical" bug would have allowed attackers exploit a code error known as an integer overflow and let them execute their own code on a user's smartphone after sending a specially crafted video call.
"An integer overflow in WhatsApp for Android prior to v2.22.16.12, Business for Android prior to v2.22.16.12, iOS prior to v2.22.16.12, Business for iOS prior to v2.22.16.12 could result in remote code execution in an established video call," WhatsApp noted in an update. In simple words: in remote code execution, hackers can remotely execute commands on someone's computing device and eventually take charge of the device and access all of the user's personal data.
The popular instant messaging platform said it has patched the vulnerability in the latest WhatsApp version. So, users must update the app urgently. If your WhatsApp app hasn't been automatically updated to the latest version, head to the app store and install the new update. Ensure to connect to a WiFi network before installing the update.
Meanwhile, the company is rolling out several new features, the latest one being the "Call Links" option. With the latest Call Links feature rolling out, users will simply need to tap on the 'Call Links' option available within the Calls Tab and then create a link for an audio or video call and share it easily with family and friends.
To get the feature, WhatsApp users will simply need to upgrade their app to the latest version. The company confirmed that the feature will roll out starting this week for both Android and iOS users.
Samsung s23 series leak :
We're most likely at least three, and possibly even four or five months away from Samsung's official unveiling of the Galaxy S23 family, but the leaks have started in earnest today, with renders of both the vanilla Galaxy S23 as well as the Galaxy S23+.
On the back there's no more camera island to speak of, instead each camera is housed in its own round protuberation. If you're thinking you've seen this before somewhere, of course you did - Samsung's very own Galaxy S22 Ultra had a very similar design. Looks like in 2023 it will spread to the entire family.
Otherwise, there's not much to speak of here - the front is still all-screen, and the selfie camera is still to be found in a centered hole-punch. The Galaxy S23+ will however be marginally bigger than its predecessor, boasting the same size 6.6-inch screen but measuring 157.7 x 76.1 x 7.6 mm - compared to 157.4 x 75.8 x 7.6 mm, which are the S22+'s measurements.
Rumor has it we should expect 25W charging support, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or the Exynos 2300 at the helm. The S23+ is said to have the model number SM-S9160.The S23 will keep the 6.1-inch screen size of its predecessor too, measuring 146.3 x 70.8 x 7.6 mm - once again marginally taller and wider than the model it will be replacing, which was the S22 that came in at 146 x 70.6 x 7.6 mm. Specs should be the same for the S23 as for the S23+, aside from battery capacity of course, which is tipped to get a 5% increase, which means we could end up with 3,900 mAh.
Redmi Pad birth date 😅:
Redmi Pad is confirmed to launch in India. The Xiaomi sub-brand has announced that it will launch its first-ever tablet on October 4th at 12 noon. The announcement tweet does not reveal much info about the upcoming offering apart from giving us a look at the back panel and colour option of the device. The Chinese brand re-entered the tablet market in India earlier this year with the launch of the Xiaomi Pad 5.
Xiaomi is also conducting a global launch event on October 4th where it is expected to unveil the Xiaomi 12T series, Redmi Pad, and Redmi Buds 4 Pro. The India launch of the Redmi Pad is earlier than its global counterpart.
Prior to the launch event next week, we already know the key specifications of the Redmi Pad thanks to various leaks and rumours. The device is expected to sport a 10.6-inch display bearing a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels. It will feature a 90Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colour, and 400 nits brightness. The screen is surrounded by symmetrical bezels on all four sides and there is a rectangular camera module on the back panel. Dimension-wise, the tablet is said to measure 7mm thick and weighs 445 grams.
The Redmi Pad is tipped to feature 8MP rear as well as an 8MP front camera. On the audio front, it will be equipped with quad speakers tuned by Dolby Audio.
Under the hood, the Redmi Pad is rumoured to be powered by MediaTek’s Helio G99 processor. It will come with up to 4GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The tablet will reportedly be backed by an 8,000mAh battery unit with support for 18W fast charging. It will run on MIUI Pad 13 based on Android 12 out of the box.
