1)MI A2 in INDIA:

Xiaomi Mi A2, scheduled to launch in India on August 8, will be an Amazon-exclusive smartphone. The online marketplace is running a teaser page for the smartphone confirming the launch date. However, the Mi A2 price in India is not known yet. Launched in Spainearlier in July, the smartphone is a follow-up to last year's Mi A1 and the rebranded version of the Mi 6X smartphone, featuring the stock Android 8.1 Oreo software and a promise of quick software updates. Previously, XiaomiIndia head Manu Kumar Jain had announced that the Mi A2 India launch event will be held on August 8, which is when the phone's price will be revealed.
Amazon India has posted a dedicated page for the Xiaomi Mi A2 on its platform. The page also features a 'Notify Me' button, which provides an option to sign in using your name, email ID, and phone number to receive notifications on the arrival of the Xiaomi Mi A2 in India. The smartphone is also likely to be available via Xiaomi's own Mi.com site. Meanwhile, the Amazon India's page also highlights some of the key highlights of the Xiaomi Mi A2 including cameras, processor, and Android One certification.
To recall, Gadgets 360 had reported earlier that Xiaomi will not be launching the base 4GB RAM and 32GB storage variant of the Mi A2 in India. While Xiaomi is setting the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant as the base model for the Indian market, deliberations are still going on whether the 6GB RAM and 128GB option should be released as well in the country. The Indian market will also see an extra colour option - Rose Gold - launching, up from the three - Gold, Black, and Blue - announced at the global launch. We had also reported that the variants launched in India will support Quick Charge 4

2)Google Hires Sony's VR Expert Richard Marks:

In a sign that Google is up to something new in the gaming business, the search engine giant has hired Richard Marks, a former research engineer who helped create Sony's PlayStation virtual reality (VR) headset and its PlayStation Move controllers, tech website VentureBeat reported.
Marks has joined the Advanced Technology and Projects group (ATAP) at Google, the report on late Monday said.
"ATAP is at the intersection of science and application where our goal is to solve significant problems and close the gap between what if and what is. We're super excited about Richard joining the senior team and look forward to his contributions," Google was quoted as saying in a statement.
According to a report in The Information, Google was working on a service, codenamed 'Yeti', to stream games Chromecast style to a Google-made game console.
Marks had been part of Sony since 1999 and during his tenure he helped create the "EyeToy" and "PlayStation Eye camera," which debuted in 2003 on the PlayStation 2 game console.
Recently he helped develop the "PlayStation VR", which debuted in 2016 for "PlayStation 4".
In January 2018, Google hired Phil Harrison, the former head of Sony's game research and development and worldwide studios, as a Vice President and General Manager, along with some other renowned personalities of the gaming world, including former PlayStation Home Chief, Jack Buser and Xbox Live Arcade creator Greg Canessa.
There has not been any comment regarding Marks joining Google from Sony as yet.

3)Mars Closest to Earth in 15 Years Today:

Mars will be closest to the Earth in a decade and a half today, on the night of July 31, 2018. The Earth will have the Red Planet and the Sun on either side, with the three celestial bodies in a straight line. Though the two planets will be at closest distances to each other, they will still be 57.6 million km apart. This will be the closest distance between Mars and Earth till October 2020, but the Red Planet’s visibility as good as today's only every 15-17 years. Those who were watching the lunar eclipse on July 27 must have noticed Mars in the sky too, as the planet was easily visible a few degrees below our natural satellite. We should be able to see Mars till September but it will appear smaller each passing day as it leaves the orbit closer to the Earth.
Mars closest to Earth in 15 years
Though Mars is closest to the Earth in 15 years is a phenomenon for our generation, it is nowhere as big a deal as it was in 2003. Back then, Mars and Earth were ‘just’ 56 million km apart - a feat phenomenon that had not occurred in 60,000 years and will not happen again till the year 2287, as per NASA estimates.

4)Google Chrome is now going to be available in virtual reality:

Long journeys will no more be boring as Google will now allow you to browse web in the privacy of virtual reality. The company is adding Chrome web browser to its Daydream VR platform. This means that you can now browse the web in virtual reality. You can read your favourite news or watch any YouTube video in virtual reality. So just put on your VR headset and enjoy browsing privately through web pages despite having people around in your flight or train journey.
Chrome in VR is more or less similar to the desktop version except that Google has added a "cinema mode" which optimises web video for the best viewing experience in VR. This latest version of Google app is available as an update in the Google Play app store.
To use Chrome in your Daydream VR headset, simply update your Chrome for Android app to the latest version from the Play Store. Once done, the Chrome VR app will then show up on your Daydream VR homepage. Now start visiting web pages in virtual reality.

5)iPhone 2018 may come with dual-SIM support:

As long back as November last year, rumours began doing the rounds that Apple will finally bring out iPhones that support dual-SIM cards. Things have been pretty quiet on that front for a while, but we finally have some hints that dual-SIM support maybe true following the latest iOS 12 beta 5 release for the iPhone and iPad. The new beta update also means we are nearing the final stable version of iOS 12.
iOS 12 beta releases so far have impressed us largely because this feels like the first major OS update from the company that looks stable and focussed on improving performance, especially for older devices. Apple has sprinkled some features and improvements in its beta releases and the latest beta 5 also brings some improvements such as improved Screen Time presentation, new FaceTime tones and Battery Health no longer labeled as beta, among other things.
But hidden away deep within the latest beta software and inside the diagnostic reports are references to a second SIM slot. There are references like "second SIM status" and a "second SIM tray status" that suggest iOS 12 is being updated to support dual-SIM slots. This does not confirm anything just yet, but it does make it likely that the upcoming 2018 iPhones will support two SIM cards as past rumours have suggested.

6)Google to use location info, login time to make Gmail sign-in more secure:

Google on the sidelines of Google Next 2018, which was held in San Francisco last week, announced a secure login that would provide businesses a secure login tool which in turn would give employees the flexibility of accessing their apps from any device securely. The tool called Context Aware Access, instead of solely relying on existing secure login systems like two-factor verification system, allows businesses to define a set of parameters that are unique to them to secure their systems from being accessed by malicious third parties.
These parameters can be anything from the MAC address of the devices that they are using to the place from where they are logging in from. "People increasingly want access to their business critical apps on the devices that make the most sense for how they work. However, traditional access management solutions often put security at odds with flexibility by imposing one-size-fits-all, coarse-grained controls that limit users," Jennifer Lin, Product Management Director, Google Cloud wrote in a blogpost.
Google noted that Context Aware Access allows businesses to grant access to GCP APIs, G Suite, resources and third-party SaaS apps based on parameters like user's identity, location and the context of their request. This in turn increases security while decreasing complexity for the users by giving them the ability to log on apps from any device anywhere.
At the time of launch, the Context-aware access tool is available for select customers using the company's VPC Service Controls and the newly launched tool will soon be available for customers using Cloud Identity and Access Management (IAM), Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP), and Cloud Identity.
Besides this, the search engine giant also introduced a new hardware key called the Titan Security Key. The device works in a way similar to the data security key offered by Yubico and it offers two-step authentication for safeguarding user data against phishing attacks. Titan Security Key is available in two variants. While the one with Bluetooth connectivity works with smartphones, the one with USB access works with PCs and computers.

Thank you guys see you in my next post. Keep smiling ...
